Stephen Mihm of the University of Georgia and Julia Ott of the New School have organized a conference in cooperation with the Huntington Library in San Marino, California, on "Capitalizing on Finance: New Directions in the History of Capitalism." The conference will take place on April 12-13, 2013. The program is now available on-line; topics include "Finance and the Atlantic World," "Slavery and Finance," "Managing Risk, Insuring Success," "Banking on Empire," "The Roots of the Current Crisis," and "Financial Politics."
