For those readers in the New York City area:
Metropolitan Studies and the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis, New York University, will host a book launch party for Melissa S. Fisher, author of Wall Street Women (Duke University Press). The event will include discussion by the author and comments by Caitlin Zaloom and Arjun Appadurai.
The meeting will take place on March 5, 2013, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the NYU Department of Social and Cultural Analysis, 20 Cooper Square, 4th Floor Flex Space.
Wall Street Women tells the story of the first generation of women to establish themselves as professionals on Wall Street. Fisher charts the evolution of the women's careers, the growth of their political and economic clout, changes in their perspectives and the cultural climate on Wall Street, and their experiences of the 2008 financial collapse.
Melissa Fisher is a Visiting Scholar at NYU’s Department of Social and Cultural Analysis. She is a co-editor of Frontiers of Capital: Ethnographic Reflections on the New Economy, also published by Duke University Press (2006).
