Latin America is one of the regions where the railway system developed rapidly in the nineteenth century. Latin American specialization in trade and export by using the railway system became the primary means for transporting and extracting raw materials and intermediate products from the interior to the ports of the Atlantic, Pacific and the Caribbean sea, going to European or USA markets. . . . The purpose of the IRHA conference is to debate from a historical point of view the railway system's contribution for the whole region and also individual countries.Interested candidates must send a proposal of not more than 1,000 words to: submissions@aihc-irha-aihf.com; the deadline has been extended to February 17, 2013. The conference languages will be English and Spanish, and simultaneous translation will be provided.
