CHORD (the Centre for the History of Retailing and Distribution) will hold a conference on September 7-8, 2011, at the University of Wolverhampton, UK. The topic will be "Food and Beverages: Retailing, Distribution, and Consumption in Historical Perspective. The call for papers states:
The Centre for the History of Retailing and Distribution (CHORD) welcomes proposals to a conference devoted to the retailing, distribution and consumption of food and beverages, from the medieval period to the present. All methodological and disciplinary perspectives on the theme are welcome. Papers based on any geographical area are also welcome. Areas of interest range from (but are not limited to) hypermarkets to food parcels, from cafe society to drinking dens, from haute cuisine restaurants to market stalls. Proposals are welcome both for individual papers and for sessions (generally three papers in a session of 1 1/2 hours). Title (including title of session, if applicable) and an abstract of c.300 words should be sent to L.Ugolini@wlv.ac.uk.The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2011.
